However, it is near the mold line and surely done in the manufacturing process since the rest of the compote is perfect. It does not affect the stability as it is in a large chunk of glass below bowl. Bowl has shallow indentation perhaps to place flavorings in. Tool marks are evident where the bowl was crimped downward in 8 places forming the graceful, ruffled edge.

    Description

    X-Bull’s Eye (Summit) True open high standard compote Thompson Glass Company, Uniontown, PA circa 1895. The glass is clear and any colors you see in the photographs are reflections from indoors where I photographed the piece.
    The compote has the mold marks and straw marks and bubbles common in this era of glassware.
    Manufactured in a four-part mold. Excellent color and clarity and impression from the mold is crisp. One imperfection at top of stem just above the pattern portion ¼” vertical shallow crack. However, it is near the mold line and surely done in the manufacturing process since the rest of the compote is perfect. It does not affect the stability as it is in a large chunk of glass below bowl. Bowl has shallow indentation perhaps to place flavorings in. Tool marks are evident where the bowl was crimped downward in 8 places forming the graceful, ruffled edge.
