Vintage Hand-Beaded Satin Clutch Purse Evening Bag Japan

Just in time for prom and wedding season, a lovely vintage satin clutch purse or evening bag to go with that special dress.  Looks great with black or white.  Purse fabric is ivory satin, beautifully hand-decorated with “polka dot” ivory color faux pearl beading scattered over front and back surface, with floral patterns in clear and silver beading. Continuous double row of pearl beading on sides and flap, with single row beading on inside edge of purse opening. Six small florets have larger gray color pearls in center. Inside tag “Made in Japan.”
Clutch purse is 10 inches long, about 4.5 inches wide with flap is closed.  Flip-over flap has snap closure. Inside fabric is same as outside, ivory satin, with small pocket inside.
Excellent condition, few signs of any use.  No missing beads, stitching and fabric intact and clean. One small pearl bead is loose on back.
This dressy purse has been donated to a Corvallis, Oregon P.E.O. chapter to support fundraising efforts for women’s scholarships.  The purse belonged to a chapter member’s mother, who may have purchased it new (or received as gift) and used it for fancy social occasions in the San Francisco Bay area in the 1940s-50s.  It has been in clean dry storage, non smoking household.
All net proceeds from the sale will go to the chapter’s scholarship fund. P.E.O. is an international women’s non-profit philanthropic educational organization that provides scholarships and low-cost loans for college women.
