    Description

RARE Buffalo Pickup Acoustic Guitar Pickup + Preamp Complete w Box Vintage Kottke.
This is a one-of a kind RARE WORKING COMPLETE piece of music history and innovation. Group 128, Inc in Waltham, Massachusetts manufactured the Buffalo Pickup in the 1970’s. World Renowned Guitarist Leo Kottke appeared in a magazine ad for Buffalo Pickups in 1975, showing Wurlitzer and Westwood Music as the two stores selling this Pickup + Preamp. This appears to be the P800 Model, though I have been unable to locate much literature to educate myself with. This is the only example that I’ve seen with this particular tag. It is black in color, and contains spaces for the Model and Serial Numbers, which are both completely blank. A fact which makes me wonder if this particular example is some sort of prototype? It does not appear to have been used much, if at all. It retains the original Genuine Buffalo Nickel (the only other example I was able to find is missing the nickel and more, and is blue in color). I replaced the internal 9v battery before successfully testing it. It works flawlessly. I am including the pristine looking original Radio Shack 9v (pictured) with the sale for originality. It also includes what appears to be a counter display box, complete with another American Buffalo Nickel. I believe this to be totally complete, even including the unused bag of mounting tabs. The inside of the box is in excellent condition. The outer box shows expected shelf wear accumulated over nearly fifty years. The pickup itself is nearly flawless. The only imperfection that I can find is the bottom right corner of the model/serial tag on the pickup, which is very minor. I believe this to be a one of a kind find, complete, and all original. Feel free to ask any questions. I’ll answer you to the best of my ability. Also, feel free to make an offer. Thanks for looking.
