    Fine 14k Gold Filigree Shield Pin Brooch Early Mid-1900s
    Presented is a fine quality 14K gold filigree shield pin from the early to mid 1900s. This is a beautifully detailed piece. Intricate gold wires form domes surmounted with luminous gold beads. A twisted gold rope borders the piece. The back is also beautifully done, as the photos show. The pin has been gold washed with higher karat gold to give the piece a rich yellow color. The design appears to be Middle Eastern or Asian. The hallmarks however indicate this piece was either made in the Netherlands or imported into the Netherlands, I am not sure which.
    The pin is stamped on the pin shaft with 585 for 14K gold purity. This particular hallmark with the numbers 585 inside of the leaf was used in Holland/Netherlands. I'm not sure if this hallmark was used for domestically produced items or imported items. The pin is initialed GIR on both the butterfly claps and pin shaft. We have tested the piece with acid and guarantee it to be 14K.
    The condition is excellent. All the gold wires are intact. There are no breaks, no dents and no repairs.
    The weight is 7.9 grams.
