c1800-1850 Superb Victorian 14k Gold Seed Pearl Memorial Hair Locket Pin Pendant
Presented is a superb quality 14 karat gold and seed pearl locket pin or
pendant. This piece dates to the first half of the 1800s, and is likely of
English or French make. The center of the pin is a glass bezel, with a locket of
hair inside. Surrounding the glass are real, natural seed pearls and round
cabochons of turquoise colored glass, alternating. The back of the pin has a
hinged glass bezel that lifts up, so the lock of hair could be replaced with a
photo, a different lock of hair, etc. The pin has a hinged, retractable bail so
it can be worn as a pendant as well as a brooch. The pin's clasp is an old C
style.
This pin is in excellent condition. The glass is in great shape, with no
chips and no discoloration. The pearls and turquoise colored cabochons are all
securely set. There are no breaks and no repairs.
This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric
acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.
The pin is about 5/8 of an inch in diameter, or about 3/4 of an inch with the
bail extended.
This piece weighs 4.0 grams.
