Israeli police arrest Palestinian over alleged plot to attack Israelis

JERUSALEM, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) — The Israeli police said Friday that they have arrested a 22-year-old Palestinian from East Jerusalem on suspicion of planning attacks against Israelis.
The police said in a statement that following their investigation done together with the Israel Security Agency, the Palestinian was arrested about a month ago for allegedly planning an attack against participants in protests of Israeli hostages’ families, who have been demanding that the Israeli government reach a potential hostage swap deal with Hamas.
The Palestinian is also suspected of planning shooting attacks on Israeli soldiers and explosive device attacks on a train in the central Israeli city of Tel Aviv, the police said, adding that the man wrote a will and opened a group on social media called “Soldiers of God.”
According to the police, the suspect said he planned to kill as many Israelis as possible to avenge Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip. ■
